Province Appoints Three New Members to TCL Board
May 1, 2012

Trade Centre Limited's (TCL) board of directors has been strengthened by the appointment of three accomplished and well-respected leaders.

Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris and Justin McDonough, chair of TCL's board, announced today, May 1, that Gordon Gillis, Jeff Forbes and Mary Lee will each serve four-year terms, effective immediately.

"These individuals are experienced leaders that will bring a range of talent to support TCL's important role in Nova Scotia's economic and community development," said Mr. Paris.

Gordon Gillis is a returning director, while Jeff Forbes and Mary Lee are new to the board.

"Gordon, Jeff and Mary are dedicated community and business leaders who have made significant contributions to Nova Scotia," said Mr. McDonough. "They each bring a unique perspective and mix of expertise that will strengthen the board of directors and help chart the course for the future of TCL."

Mr. Gillis has been a director of the TCL board since 2005 and has held multiple roles including board chair. With 25 years of public service experience, he specializes in law, labour relations and government. He serves on a number of boards, including the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation and Canada Revenue Agency.

Mr. Forbes, managing partner and vice president of Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette, is a well-respected leader in the region with expertise in human resources and a long history of community involvement. With more than 15 years of experience, he brings extensive knowledge of the labour market, human resources and executive leadership.

Ms. Lee, president and CEO of the Health Association of Nova Scotia, brings a broad understanding of business, strategic planning and fiscal management. An experienced board member and respected leader in her field, she is well-versed in managing multiple stakeholder relationships to gain collaboration and facilitate resolution.

The TCL board of directors consists of up to 12 voting members.
