October 9, 2009
Back

Halifax, NS—Trade Centre Limited (TCL) President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Ferguson welcomed the provincial government’s appointment of lawyer Gordon Gillis as chair of TCL’s board of directors today.

“Gordon Gillis has been a great board member for the last four years and Trade Centre Limited looks forward to working with him in this new role,” said Mr. Ferguson. “His considerable experience as a senior public servant will be invaluable as our organization regularly works with the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government.”

Gordon Gillis began working with the government of Nova Scotia in 1978 as a lawyer. Before he retired in 2003, he spent 18 years as a deputy minister for such departments and agencies as the premier’s office, intergovernmental affairs, justice, attorney general, solicitor general, municipal affairs, labour and community services. In addition to his service on TCL’s board since 2005, he also serves as chair of the board of directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation and the board of management for the Canada Revenue Agency, where he chairs the Human Resources Committee.

“Trade Centre Limited is an important organization for Nova Scotia’s economy and I am honoured the government has entrusted me with this responsibility as chair,” said Mr. Gillis. “I am also extremely pleased to be working with Scott and all the dedicated staff at Trade Centre Limited.”

Mr. Gillis’s term as chair is effective immediately and will run for one year.

Trade Centre Limited (TCL) is a provincial crown corporation that operates World Trade & Convention Centre, ExhibitionPark, Ticket Atlantic, Halifax Metro Centre and World Trade Centre Atlantic Canada. Its mandate is to create economic benefits by bringing people together in Halifax and Nova Scotia.
