Atlantic Canadian Ports to Promote Atlantic Gateway at European Conference
Representatives of Atlantic Canada’s ports will be in Europe, from May 23-30, 2009, to promote Atlantic Canada as the premiere entry point for foreign shipments to North America. The delegation will highlight the natural and competitive shipping advantages of the Atlantic Gateway during the 4th annual Breakbulk Europe Conference & Exhibition in Antwerp, Belgium.

Halifax to host Sir Paul McCartney’s only Canadian concert date this year
Sir Paul McCartney is set to perform his only Canadian date this year at the Halifax Common on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Power Promotional Events President Harold MacKay made the announcement at a news conference held this afternoon at the World Trade & Convention Centre, noting that Halifax will welcome “the largest and most exciting concert in its 260 year history.”

New convention centre to attract world-class events to city and province
Halifax is gearing up to welcome large international congresses, meetings, and major events, thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed Monday, May 4, 2009 by Premier Rodney MacDonald and Mayor Peter Kelly. The document commits the Province and Halifax Regional Municipality to work together in an effort to have a new convention centre up and running in downtown Halifax by January 1, 2013.

Bluenose League: Florida Panthers commit to three years in the Maritimes
The Bluenose League has signed a three year pre-season hosting agreement with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. The agreement includes the Panthers full training camp in Port Hawkesbury for September 2009 and a pre-season exhibition game against the Ottawa Senators at the Halifax Metro Centre on September 15th.

Former TCL President & CEO inducted into Atlantic Business Magazine’s Hall of Fame
Atlantic Business Magazine inducted Frederick MacGillivray into its Hall of Fame at the publication’s Top 50 CEO Awards Gala, held at the World Trade & Convention Centre last evening.
