Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development, Emera Inc.
Emera is an energy company focused on the North American market with a market capitalization of $2 billion. At Emera, Wayne is responsible for business development, corporate strategy and corporate communications. Business development highlights include Bangor Hydro Electric, Brookfield Power joint venture generation business in Massachusetts, Maritimes Northeast Pipeline investment, New Brunswick natural gas pipeline and St. Lucia Electric.
A native of Nova Scotia, Wayne received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Saint Mary’s University and completed his CA designation with Deloitte. His formal education includes the Harvard Law School Executive Negotiation Program, Harvard Business School Corporate Strategy and Innovation, The Wharton School - Strategic Finance & Marketing Program and the Executive Leadership Programs with both the North American Centre for Creative Leadership and the Niagara Institute.
Wayne serves on the Board of ENTx Capital Corporation – a Calgary based private equity company. He is also the Chair of the Board of Governors for the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (APEC); Board Member for Trade Centre Limited and Neptune Theatre, and Chair for the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame 2008 event in Nova Scotia. Wayne is also a member of the David Foster Foundation Atlantic fundraising committee and member of the New England – Canada Business Council and the Atlantic Canadian Chapter of the Young President’s Organization.
Wayne’s past community involvement includes Board Member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, IWK Health Centre Foundation, Halifax Club, Pier 21 Society, Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation and Executive of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce Board. In addition, he is past Board member of the Atlantic Financial Executives’ Institute and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia. He was also a part time professor for the Masters of Business Administration Program at Saint Mary’s University where he was recognized as MBA Professor of the Year.
Wayne was honoured in 2001 as one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40.
