Councillor, Halifax Regional Municipality
Councillor Stephen Adams represents District 18, Spryfield - Herring Cove. Stephen was raised in Spryfield and graduated from J.L. Ilsley High School in 1979. He continued his education in Halifax, graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in 1982, and a Bachelor of Commerce in 1986. Stephen began his professional career in 1986 with Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals, and continues to work with them today.
Councillor Adams was first elected to Halifax City Council in 1991, representing Ward 7. He was successful in three subsequent elections including elections in 1994, 1995, 2000 and 2004. In 1994 he was elected as Deputy Mayor of Halifax, becoming the youngest Deputy Mayor to serve in the history of the city.
Councillor Adams has served and continues to serve on numerous committees, including:
- Chair of Western Community Council
- Member of Chebucto Community Council
- Chair of Private Road Committee
- Chair of Taxi Committee
- Member of Mobile Home Park Committee
- Member, Greater Halifax Partnership
- Member, Energy and Underground Services Committee
In addition to these, Councillor Adams serves on community committees including, but not limited to:
- Herring Cove Community Liaison Committee
- Spryfield and Area Business Commission
